Practical Fiction

Does one ever stop remembering?

Exploring processes of memory through oral ‘rituals’ (i.e channelling) to come to terms with a personal and collective history. Having an appreciation for artificiality, these phantasmagorias construct a certain reality. Perhaps what is at play is the contingency of memory, which is enacted through an opposition between voice and image. Truth and truthfulness become distinct terms from one and other, corresponding to ideas around immediacy and mediation.

Mediation then must be our practical fiction.
